So this show was pretty amazing, but what else can you expect from Anberlin?
They had a really fun intro and everyone was just about ready to jump out of their skin when they finally walked onto the stage.
All of the members had a lot of energy and had really great stage presence--- several of them smiled and sang along to the words which really made you fall even more in love with them. And of course! Stephen was jumping all over the place and making great eye contact with everyone which we all totally love. The only thing that was kind of weird was they didn't play a single song from the album that made us all crazy for them-- Blueprints. They played a lot of songs off the new album and most of us haven't learned all the words yet so we'd just jump around and sing along to the chorus.
Another thing that was kinda weird was during their last song Stephen just sort of walked off stage and never came back. I was thinking, Well for sure he's going to come back on and give us one more go but nope, he was gone for good without a wave goodbye or anything. But then again, it was kind of nice just watching the band play and it was cute that they scooted up front and they seemed so happy just playing for us.
I really had an amazing time, but I always do at Anberlin shows. Once I waited in the snow in a tent for 8 hours to watch them perform in Tulsa. If you haven't seen them before, trust me, it's well worth it. They are always so thankful and sweet and when you meet them they seem so interested in what you have to say to them... They are some of the nicest band members you will ever meet. You know sometimes you'll go to a show and when you meet the band they seem to not be listening to you and even worse, sometimes they are rude and sarcastic to you. Once I met a band and asked the lead singer where the rest of the group was so I could get their pics and he rudely told me, "How should I know, I'm not the boss of them." Anyway, they aren't anything like that, they seem to WANT to meet you.
So, if you are waivering back and forth wondering if you should go or not, you should! You'll have a great time (even if Scary Kids Scaring Kids were totally too hard for the show and almost killed you because of the crazy metalcore people nearly costing you an eye and/or bloody nose) and you won't regret it!
