I have a lot to say about this show. First of all, what an honor to be able to see a rock icon like Chris Cornell! We had Soundgarden, Audioslave, and his solo stuff, all rolled into one set. His voice was amazing! However, he didn't have much energy, and just paced up and down the stage while he was singing. He looked lost, and a little tired. Still, to hear all those songs live was fantastic.
The bullshit is this. While I was going up to buy a cheese burger, I happened upon a crowd of people waiting in a line at the Verizon tent. And when my gaze followed the line to the front, there I saw Chris Cornell signing autographs. So I got in the line! Wouldn't you?? So I get up to where I am the next person to walk up and meet him, and some bullshit bouncer dude says to me, Ma'am, if you don't have a blue wrist band, please step out of line. I said you are kidding me! He said, no ma'am I am not kidding. Please step out of line and let the people behind you with blue wrist bands pass. I was THAT close to meeting Chris Cornell, and I got the boot. That blows.
I should also mention Linkin Park played after Chris, and they brought the house down. People, I have seen lots and lots of bands, been to festivals all over the country and I can honestly say Linkin Park is THE most amazing band live. I can't even explain how tight their show is, how full of energy, how totally captivating they are. On the star scale of one to five, I give them a 6. If you haven't seen them, and you get a chance, do it!! You won't regret it! Then write me and tell me how you liked it.
