Deep from within the darkness of your imagination, there lies a cold room. The walls of that room are naked of paint, stripped of the floral prints that once made the room look welcoming. Instead, the barren walls vibrate to the distant sound of rage and confusion. The ghosts that once inhabited this room are gone. The ghouls who once clawed at the walls were chased away by the same vibrations you are experiencing at this very moment. These vibrations pulsate and pump thick red liquid through windows that once let only sunshine in. This room is where reality is overcome by your nightmares. This is where COMBICHRIST lives.
Those who think that the emotional power of Metal and the cool hard beat of Electronica do not mix well should really start paying more attention. Instead of keeping your chin up and accepting whatever new trend is laid out in front of you, you should really be concerned about those dark demons nipping at your heels and tapping you on the shoulder. Those aren't shadows: they are the past, present and future of rock and electronica. They are messengers sent from COMBICHRIST. They are your destiny.
COMBICHRIST is brutal, but never ugly. COMBICHRIST is cold but never without heart. COMBICHRIST is distant but yearns to embrace your senses. COMBICHRIST is darkness searching for light. COMBICHRIST is one voice that speaks to us all.
COMBICHRIST is Norwegian musician Andy LaPlegua. COMBICHRIST would not exist without LaPlegua and it is rumored that LaPlegua would not exist without COMBICHRIST yet they are not interchangeable. Five years ago, COMBICHRIST was born from the soul of LaPlegua but Andy has been creating music for a much longer period of time. He played metal & hardcore with two highly respected bands in Norway: Fleshfire, who split up after releasing an EP entitled Real, and Lash Out.
While playing with Lash Out, Andy decided to branch out and work with electronics and dance beats so he formed Icon Of Coil. Icon Of Coil was originally a solo adventure but Andy soon added Sebastian Komor and Christian Lund. Icon Of Coil was Andy's first project to be released in the US via a licensing relationship with Philadelphia's Metropolis Records. They quickly became one of the better-known bands in the Industrial/electronic scene, releasing three full-length albums and countless EPs and 12" singles.
Andy started to explore harsher, less pop-driven sounds and, in 2003, he decided to release Joy Of Gunz, an album that highlighted his darker, harder-hitting material. This was the first release under the name COMBICHRIST. A new creature had been created, conceived and let loose, ready to devour all who stood in it's way. LaPlegua may have been in the driver's seat but COMBICHRIST had a mind of it's own. By the end of 2004 there were two more COMBICHRIST EPs: Kiss The Blade and Sex Drogen Und Industrial.
With COMBICHRIST unleashed upon an unsuspecting world, Andy headed back to his home turf and released the final Icon Of Coil album, Machines Are Us, as well as starting two additional side projects. In 2004, inspired by Daft Punk and other quirky electronica acts, Andy began releasing dance-pop 12" singles under the nome-de-plume, Scandy. For material of a melodic and symphonic nature, Andy unveiled Panzer AG with the debut album This Is My Battlefield, which was Andy's first post-Icon of Coil project to see a US release via Metropolis Records.
With interest growing at an alarming rate, COMBICHRIST played their first US show at LA's world-renowned industrial club Das Bunker in 2004. This gig led to a US tour as support for The Genitorturers and then a a successful headlining US tour after that.
Combichrist's second full-length album, Everybody Hates You, released in March, 2005, marked another milestone in Andy's career as it was the first COMBICHRIST US release through Metropolis Records. Everybody Hates You featured the now-legendary club hits "This Shit Will Fuck You Up" and "This Is My Rifle" as well as 11 other hard electronic/techno classics. The success of Everybody Hates You led to COMBICHRIST's second US tour (and their sold-out headlining appearance at the Los Angeles Industrial Festival at The Avalon in Hollywood in July, 2005).
Fueled by the musical adrenaline of touring, Andy was able to unleash a full-length Scandy album (13 Ways To Masturbate), a second Panzer AG album (Your World Is Burning) and a new COMBICHRIST EP Get Your Body Beat by the end of 2006. The single "Get Your Body Beat" proved such a success it gave COMBICHRIST their first Billboard Chart position - six weeks in the Dance Single Top 10! Fellow Metropolis artist KMFDM took note of COMBICHRIST's rising fame and invited Andy and crew to join them on their 2006 US trek which took COMBICHRIST across the US for 29 well-attended shows in September and October.
Upon completion of the KMFDM dates, COMBICHRIST returned to the studio and in March of 2007 they returned with their third full-length release What The Fuck Is Wrong With You People, which contained the aforementioned "Get Your Body Beat", the now-classic title track as well as club staples "Electrohead" and "Deathbed". A triumphant return to the Hollywood Avalon was included in the 2007/2008 What The Fuck Is Wrong With This Tour which took COMBICHRIST across the US, continental Europe, the Eastern Bloc and Australia.
Andy rested for 10 minutes and, in May of 2008, joined former Metropolis act Mindless Self Indulgence for a series of dates in the Southern US in anticipation of the new single "Sent To Destroy" which will be released as a part of the new COMBICHRIST EP Frost in July, 2008.
COMBICHRIST is currently booked for an extensive European tour during the summer of 2008 and their first visit to Mexico and South America in the Fall of 2008. A new album is expected in January 2009 and then another world tour.
