Attended the Drowning Pool concert at The Ridglea Theater on the 5th. This was my first time seeing a show at this venue and it was excellent!!
I have been a Drowning Pool fan since their first album and I have been a big Soil fan since their Scars album, so seeing Ryan McCombs fronting Drowning Pool was awesome. Ryan McCombs is the best front man for this band since Dave Williams, who left this planet way too soon. Drowning Pool at the time of Dave's death was so close to superstardom it was nearly in their grasp, maybe with Ryan it will be once more.
The band opened with Sinners and proceeded to rock the Ridglea with about nine more ass kicking songs including Enemy, Rebel Yell, and Soldiers, off there new album "Full Circle". They closed the show with an encore that included Tear Away and Bodies. The latter tune included vocal help from guitarist CJ Pierce's brother. They brought the house down with that one, everyone was rocking and singing.
The band was tight musically and really put on a powerful hard rocking show!! The only downer for me was that it was not nearly long enough and that is the only reason I gave it a 4 star review. Egypt Central is currently touring with Drowning Pool and they rocked out. I bought their self titled CD based on their performance. Highly recommend this show.
