This show was awesome. As far as the other bands - I thought Bodom and In Flames were both pretty good, however the main event blew them out of the water. Megadeth absolutely nailed this show. So much raw energy. After the first few songs, Dave said he doesn't like to talk much, since that is a waste of our money - and from then on, they just plowed through the songs. They played pretty much every song I wanted to hear, in a setlist that was heavy with Rust in Peace material (awesome). The new guitarist was pretty good, and Dave of course was excellent. My only complaint is that they didn't play long enough!! (even though they seemed to have played a ton of songs...)
What an amazing experience! For me it started with a meet and greet with Dave and the band. That was a very fun treat and I even got Dave to laugh when he was taking a photo with someone, so he asked for a redo.
Ahh, we could have fun shooting the sh*t.
The show rocked. I was right up front against the railing and this was a great show. The new band members did an outstanding job and really worked the crowd with Dave.
The crowd probably didn't need to get worked up, however. It was a conveyor belt of people going over my head as tons o' fans were moshing and going over. I've never seen an usher staff work so hard.
All-in-all, it is quite typical of the energy level Megadeth gets at it's concerts. It never fails to amaze me how much the crowd loves Megadeth and shows it (more so than any other concert I've been to).
The set list was superb. I only wish I woulda heard High Speed Dirt, since I am a survivor of High Speed Dirt, myself.
For me, this was the ultimate Megadeth experience.
I agree, it would be great if they gave us a 2.5 hour show. I've seen em three times now and they were all short sets just like this, altho we do get a lot of songs. We just want more. ;^P
The very best thing, however, is they got to headline the show, which they deserve.
Rock on Dave!
