pretty awesome show as usual, this was my 9th NFG show since I first saw them in 2000 opening for Fenix TX. The set was strong, pulling mostly from fan favorite albums "sticks & stones" and "catalyst", the material from which made up over half of their 18 song/1 hour set. I've seen them play 26 songs before, but that was a tour for which they had only 2 opening bands and not 4 like this "easy core" tour.
My only complaint regarding NFG was that they didn't play anything off of "nothing gold can stay" despite the fact that they've been playing a song from this album at nearly every show of this tour, so for the "old school" fans like me, it was kind of a bummer to not hear "2's and 3's" or "3rd and long" for example. On the other hand, their choice to play "vegas" and "all about her" from the s/t album was a treat for their older fans, but they also played their cover of "kiss me" and 3 songs from their "tip of the iceberg" ep to please the newer fans and fans that follow their newer work.
my only other complaint was that the crowd seemd to be more there for "a day to remember" and got into their set more/went off more for them than NFG, but I guess that's what happens with a younger crowd, the teenagers at the show clearly relate to the newer bands and hard core styles of "a day to remember" moreso than the pop punk of NFG.
awesome show, i'm glad that they didn't play many "soft" songs like "i don't wanna know" or their "coming home" material at the show, which fit in more with their harder opening bands. I'm also glad they've given the "from the screen to your stereo II" album a rest as well, although the single "kiss me" appears to be a staple to the set and pleased a lot of the teenage girls at the show.
