Bio:
Formed in late 2008 (around September-October) by Hampstead resident Ryan McAvoy and local Auburn kid Raphael Bastek, the two were great friends and jokingly decided to make a band. Their venture never really took off, switching names left and right- everything from "We Don't Know" to "The Shaved Goatees"- and they never really got anything done. One day, Raphael was talking to another one of his good friends, Bryan Leney, known for being a fantastic guitarist, and asked if Bryan wanted to be in a band with him and Ryan. Bryan happily agreed. Not too long after, Ryan and Raphael were discussing the band in their Biology class when classmate Luke Rand overheard their discussion and offered to be the drummer that they needed. And so the band was reborn with its first, and current, four members.
Originally deciding upon the name "Praised for Glory", or PFG for short- a name that Raphael thought of while attending church, of all places- PFG was off to what they felt was a decent start. Raphael and Luke got together and with Luke's piano prowess and Raphael's acoustic guitar they began writing PFG's first two songs, "Broken Cascade" and "Masks". At a later date, the first three person band practice consisting of Bryan, Raphael, and Luke at Raphael's house, Bryan and Raphael wrote another song, the first PFG song with Bryan- "Everyday Anthem", along with a few joke tracks like the "Pizza Rap" and a quick cover of "Crank Dat"- Soulja Boi Tell'em.
Things seemed to be off at a good start, but there were a few problems. Ryan wasn't making it to practices because of his busy schedule at work and the recordings (and songs themselves) of PFG's early demos really needed work. A lot of it.
Now in early 2009, they decided to cancel their first show- scheduled for 2/27 at a venue called Ground Zero in Allenstown, NH along with bands Flood the Gates, Glass America, and Ballast- and focused on revising their work. Raphael bought a bass, they got new recording equipment, they fixed up Ryan's drumset so Luke could use it, etc. The tables had turned and now while Ryan could make it to practices, Luke was always busy in some way or another. The sound and direction that PFG was heading in was completely different and the band had a name change, first as a joke to "Mufasa and the Lady Killers", and now to what we are today- "Paper Street", the location of where the first fight takes place in the seminal movie Fight Club.
So who are we?
We're Paper Street.
We're fresh, we need work, but we're making our way.
