They opened with the first couple of songs from "Liquour in the Front". It was awesome. This venue is amazing, you can get real close to the band and the open air keeps things from getting to stuffy. Surf Club will never make The Rev's hellhole list, or whatever it's called.
Wow, even better than I thought this gig would be. Have been a fan since Psychobilly Freakout and have always wanted to see the Rev live. Played most of my favourites (UK spelling), and the covers were great fun. Never thought that would be at a gig listening to paranoid, and enjoying it. Thanks Jim it was worth the 90 mile return journey. Come back to Scotland soon, try Edinburgh next! Very selfish as it would save me the train fare.
Just flat out amazing
this was a great nite!AAAA
the venue was rectangular with the stage at the broad side.2 big watering holes, one each side.ample parking around this former vinegar factory.2 local support bands were allright,but-let´s be honest-we came to see the the rev!!!they opened with(what else) big sky and slammed thru their cool playlist.jim and the boys referred to each 50´s,60´s,70´s,80´s songs paying tribute to rock´n´roll cornerstones.after heating the pack to the max, they finished us up with cool encores.i swear to God,there wasn´t a single face without a broad grin...
Updated 2008-07-05 23:30:00The show was total hardcore boogie/thrash at super high volume. The definition of Psychobilly is Reverend Horton Heat.Truly one of the fastest smoothest guitarist and he plays what he wants and has a great time doing it.Nashville Pussy impressed me-I didn't expect much-and I was blown away,a great time. Supersuckers,as always, rocked hard and have an awesome addition in Scotty Churillo on the drums. I thought I was gonna miss him in the Revs band-so it was cool to see him 1st in Supersuckers. The rev played the old favs[400 bucks ,Wiggle Stick,I can't Surf,Baddest Of The Bad,Bales Of Cocaine,It's Martini Time ,Big Little Baby,Callin In Twisted,Five O Ford,Big Sky,etc.]But besides that he did this string of covers that started with a song he says been told was possibly from the Rennassainse era written by King James the whatever. Any way the song Greensleeves Ive heard and loved the way Rev played it. Then he went to a song from the 50s[King Of The Road] the 60s the 70sBlack Sabbath cover[Paranoid],80s Stray Cat cover-[Rock this town],90s Nirvana cover [In Bloom ]Yeah I forgot what those songs were -sue me,or Sue Jack Daniels whichever, which he didnt play.Played till after midnight and really gave us more than our monies worth. Next time around you gotta go see them for a good time. Stagger and Fall from San Fran really tore it up. Simmerhorn from Lockford followed definately worth listening to. Then outdoors for Nashville Pussy, Supersuckers, and The Rev. Could have enjoyed the show more had it not been for a few drunks not being able to handle their alcohol and moshpitting but you cant blame that on the Rev -he really got that place wound up and jumpin.Gotta go hey I got 0 friend ,nada, zilch but I dont care I had a great time.C-U
