In my opinion the whole show was amazing, but from all the bands, Disturbed was the BEST one. I think Disturbed should been the last (main) band of the night. They really know how to perform live!!!
Slipknot did a great performance acting wise, especially when they almost turn upside down the drums, But music wise, didn’t impress me at all.
Before the show, I only liked Disturbed, but now that I've seen them, I love them.
I think the creation of the Mayhem Festival was a great idea and I hope you guys come back to Tampa, FL next year. Of course, with Disturbed as the main band!!!

I would have to agree with the last comment. Disturbed by far rocked the show. Some of the lesser known bands were quite good as well. Black Tide was pretty impressive. My only complaint is that we purchased advanced presale pit tickets and they came with a "jump the line" armband that was useless. You still had to get another armband for the pit. and the armband didnt allow you to do anything. Might be a venue thing, just kind of a pain. Cant wait til next year!!!

No doubt i have to agree with the last two comments. Disturbed was the best show. They made the absolute best set list they could have with an hour restraint. They had a good mix from every album and played every hit of theirs. That's what a band needs to do with an hour. Their energy was amazing, they sounded great, and the guitar player was always in a spotlight for solos. Sweet performance. Slipknot is great live, yeah. However, their set list was very weak. They played three or four LESS songs than Disturbed, and left out Wait and Bleed, Spit It Out, Pulse of the Maggots, and Vermillion. (Look at the list on the left and realize that it's not even worth voting with PickRSet). I think they owed at least one of these songs to their fans who stuck around during the two and a half year hiatus. But the drum rotating was sick, and Corey has great stage prescence. The list was just short and disappointing. DragonForce was DragonForce, hair and guitar. I was lucky enough to meet them. Black Tide was impressive and Underoath's show was a lot better and harder than I expected. I hope Slipknot tours All Hope is Gone AND their hits sometime soon.

The entire show rocked, but Slipknot clearly blew everyone away - great energy, great setlist, just awesome!

Disturbed's set was good, but they're just too boring on stage...could DD try to be any more dramatic? It came off as a bit silly, to be honest.

DragonForce was good technically, but their overblown egos will be the death of this band. I think they spent more time trying to look good, than play with any energy. They were also quite subdued and standoffish while signing.

Airbourne was the highlight of the outside stages, great set, great energy, and sounded truly grateful to their fans during signing. Good set by Black Tide and Mastodon as well.

Disturbed definitely rocked the entire night. Dragonforce surprised me with their performance, since ive heard they're usually terrible live, but were actually pretty good. Slipknot had an amazing performance but im a bigger fan of disturbed's music. Also, Disturbed's setlist was absolutely INSANE. I'd love to see mayhem fest back next year with disturbed on the list.

Imp9002002, you are right on! Speaking of Disturbed's setlist.....does anyone have or remember it? I had a blast in the pit and remember several songs....bbbbuuuuuttttttt......I think I may have drank too much Jager because things are a little fuzzy. LOL! They played Liberate, right?

Machine Head & 5FDP were the best ones there IMO, but I knew they would be even before I got there :) I had seen all of the other bands before except Airbourne, so I pretty much knew what to expect from them. There were no real surprises.

Disturbed appeared to be just going through the motions. and WTF was up with the mainstage setup? the speakers were blocking the view of a lot of people in the pit! At WPB the speakers were in the back and way off to the side. If there wasn't a view, the pit shouldn't have been opened as wide.

It was awesome that SOME of the bands cared enough about their fans to do signings. And getting the free Rockstar while we waited in line was great-especially for those of us there at a couple of hours before gates opened. Kinda sucked that they wouldn't let us bring it into the venue though!

Allowing cameras & backpacks was very cool and the security guys up front (at least in front of the Jager stage) deserve a giant bonus in their paycheck. They were kept busy all during WOJ, 5FDP and Machine Head and unlike other venues, they know how to properly lift out a crowd surfer without injuring the people in the front. *hugs* to them!

*fingers crossed* that Mayhem becomes an annual event! Who needs Ozzfest when you have Mayhem??? and as always, metal fans are the best! I met so many nice people there. It's great to spend the day with people who know what good music is all about :)
