This was a very good show as a whole. The promoters could make a few changes and make it great.
Corey Taylor announced that Phil from Machine Head was okay prior to the end of Slipknots set. Man that was a relief, that was some scary shit. Phil just fell out in the middle of the song. They announced the show was over and medical staff placed him on a backboard with a neck brace and loaded him on a medical cart. Rob rode with him and that was it. They announced show was over and forced everyone out of that area.
I wasn't at the Dimebag murder but I'm sure it was initially very reminiscent. A lot of confusion, it was crazy. We are all glad you are alright.
Again the overlap from the parking lot stages and the main stage REALLY SUCKED. It all could have been avoided with better planning. The two stages just rolled right along once things got started.
The Red Chord--Started things off and kicked ass. It was kind of confusing as the website said Black Tide was to play first. Security were jerks, when they handed the mike to fans in the crowd to sing security would push the fan away. ASSHOLES, these kids were big fans and the band was real into it. FUCK OFF Security.
They were all cool at the Jagier tent.
Stuck in Kaos--In my opinion sucked, they need to figure out what they want to do. Play rap crap or metal. They were annoying
36 Crazyfists--rocked the place. I was disappointed they did not play Bloodwork, but that’s just me. They were all cool at the Jagier tent.
THIS SHOW TOTALLY KICKED A$$! DISTURBED ROCKED THE HOUSE ALONG WITH SLIPKNOT!! I FKIN LOVED IT! KICK A$$ JOB!
Overall this was a great show. The mainstage lineup was very very strong. The side stages were packed with a lot of great bands. I do think there is some work to be done to get this tour running as well as Ozzfest does but they are definately headed in the right direction.
The Parking as Nissan ALWAYS sucks so there is nothing they can do to fix this.
The price was perfect. It was really nice to go to a festival show and NOT pay $150 a ticket. The merch was also reasonably priced and a great selection of sizes and styles available for every band there.
The bands were very accessible and friendly whenever they encountered the fans. I would have like to see a little more organization at the autograph tents. There was no organization and you had no idea who was going to be where/when and where you should go to meet them.
My suggestion would be to do 2 tents on either side of the side stage area. That way if you are in line you still can enjoy the music being played. Post a schedule of who will be there so fans have an opportunity to meet their favorite band. I was really hoping to meet Machine Head and was really disappointed to learn they signed 2 hours before their set and that no one had announced it. They did have it posted in a very small spot but you would have missed it if you didn't already know where to go.
I loved how they went back and forth with the 2 side stages so you didn't have to wait at all for the next band. I was really pissed that I had to choose between seeing Mastodon and Five Finger because they overlapped. That move made NO sense to me at all. Ozzfest made this mistake in the beginning too so live and learn.
I thought overall this was a fantastic move and I am only hoping that they follow the same format and keep it fun and affordable for the fans. With some minor tweaking this tour could bigger than Ozzfest in the years to come.
Just like the previous time that I saw Disturbed (Ozzfest 2006) they kicked a$$ and had the entire audience in their grasp. David and the guys totally knows how to rock out and make the show both great and extremely interesting! Loved the Hannibal Lecter entrance.
Slipknot was also good and very interesting for a first timer.
Sad to have missed Black Tide, don't veen know if they played. Airborne was by far the other highlight together with Machinehead.
Mastodont and Dragonforce should not have been main stage acts, they sucked pretty bad. Although I'm sure all the little girls loved the singer for Dragonforce.... very 80's hairband.
Nissan Pavilion - not too accomodating to the over 21 crowd for the 2nd & 3rd stage. We were not permitted to bring our drinks into the fenced off area. Come on get your liquor license fixed. Also, I felt like cattle being herded to & from that area.. SUX'D!
Of the bands I did see....
Walls of Jericho - very rockin good stuff. That's one tough lady - good job.
Five Finger Death Punch - amazingly good - one of the best bands of the entire Mayhem - Mad props to you!!!
Underoath - not too much into the whole Christian rock scene - but hey sound engineer you keep it clean - very good job there!
Machinehead - sorry to hear about the little incident, which I missed because I thought the Jager stage sounded like crap. VERY DISAPPOINTING.. Nothing against machinehead who is always rockin..
Dragon Force - all I have to say is KEYTAR!!! AWWW come on who uses keytar anymore... Are these guys supposed to be this amusing..
Disturbed - I have seen Disturbed about 5 times now. I personally think this was their worst show so far for me. It seems as though their egos have outgrown the stage. You are supposed to be pleasing and performing for the CROWD remember.. Even though the little girl thing was cute..
Slipknot - never a disappointment... Rocking as always...
Sad sad pit though - come on VA...
FFDP's crowd was fking amazing, but violent!
Red Chord was pretty good, I got to crowd surf twice.
EVERYBODY @ MAYHEM WERE FUCKING FRIENDLY AND NICE except the guards etc.
Along the way home on 495 N, bunch of other cars were waving at me haha that was fun
Slipknot was SUPER awesome, my seat wasn't that bad. Section 102 row T. I head banged a lot, this morning my neck is fucking sore.
Disturbed was cool, but im not really a big fan. Same with Dragonforce.
Next year's mayhem must be better than this year if next year wants to top it off!
This was my first ever concert and it was a blast. The parking wasn't bad at all in my opinion and we got in quick for ordering tickets off of live nation.
But nothing's perfect so there were problems. I was supposed to be in this VIP pre-show party because I ordered Disturbed's limited edition album and registered for the event. I brought my laminate like I was supposed to but the will call and venue didn't know what the fuck I was talking about which I blame entirely on Rockstar not giving anyone any information.
I was also disappointed that I couldn't find any information on autograph signings. All the parking lot stage bands announced when they would sign and the only main band I saw advertised was Mastodon. I really would have liked to get something signed from Disturbed and Slipknot.
Other than that everything was great. All the parking lot bands did great and it was a lot of fun when the Metal Mulisha were biking.
I got to the main stage right when Dragonforce was getting ready and I have to say they have really improved live. It was pretty cool when ZP came running through the crowd.
I was really excited before Disturbed came on because they are the band that got me into metal and I couldn't believe that I was finally seeing them live. And they didn't disappoint either. They had a great show although I wished it had lasted longer. It was really cool when he brought the little girl on stage but of course I was jealous. Who wouldn't be?
After Disturbed was done I was worn out. I had a sore neck, my feet hurt from walking and jumping around all day, and my voice was hoarse from singing but I was ready for more. Then Slipknot came and just tore the place down. Really great show.
In the end I was battered and bruised just like you're supposed to be after a metal concert. And although all the shit with a party and autographs sucked. The performances alone get the show five stars. It was an honor to see Disturbed and Slipknot perform together in the same night and I can't wait to see it again.
Sick Sick Sick SICK!
For a first ever Mayhem I thought it was freakin awesome!!! I have been to Ozzfest quite a few times and Ozzfest is great but this was just as awesome!! It was my first time at Nissan and I thought it was super easy to get to. Got held up on Rt 66 back to the good ol' Eastern Shore of Maryland though. Night road work SUCKS!!!
The Red Chord got things started off well, in my opinion. I was confused as well as to the scheduled bands. I was in line trying to get food when the whole Machine Head thing happened. Glad to hear Phil is ok.
Five Finger freakin rocked that place out!!!! Can't wait to see them headline their own show! The Hubby and I got props from Ivan when we spotted him hanging out around back at the Hot Topic Stage. That was a highlight of my day.
Never seen soooo much crowd surfing. The dust was incredible from the pit. I was there mostly to see 5FDP and Disturbed and Slipknot, but I was impressed with BlackTide and Airbourne as well, whose singer crashed and burned as he fell down the ramp from the stage (Jaigermeister) That was fuuuuuunnny although it had to hurt. I was embarrassed for him. It was really cool how they came out later on after Disturbed played. Our friend, Matt, got to shake hands with them. So cool as it was his first concert ever (Way to Go, MATT!!!)
Disturbed was totally awesome...my first time seeing them....Dave, you rock, getting that little 9 yr old up there...I LOVE YOU!!!
Slipknot was totally awesome and everything I would have expected and more especially since 2 guys were injured....Joey's drum kit is the sickest ever!!! Go JOEY!
Cant wait til next year peeps
Peace out
The Red Chord - They were good. The wall of death and circles pits were brutal. I loved how the singer got people to say weird phrases, lol.
Stuck In Kaos (local band) - Didn't care enough to watch them
36 Crazyfists - They were Good.
Airbourne - They were amazing.
Suicide Silence - They sucked.
Walls of Jericho - They were also amazing. So many people crowd surfed during Walls of Jericho. Some fat girls even crowd surfed. That is a NO NO, lol.
Excellent
Black Tide - They were good. The audio system sucked at their stage.
Mastodon -Expected a lot better from Mastodon.
Five Finger Death Punch - Missed to see Mastodon. I regret this because I heard that they were excellent
Underoath - Didn't care to watch and didn't like. Got food during this time.
Machine Head - They were also amazing. Excellent, and were glad that Phil is doing okay now :-)
Dragonforce - They were Good.
Disturbed - Holy shit, they were amazing. Bravo
Slipknot - Holy shit again, they were amazing. Bravo
Parking has always sucked at Nissan, go figure. I loved the set-up of the Hot Topic and Jager stages being close together. The Hot Topic stage sounded a bit off-key. Huge girls should not crowd surf, lol. Bands set times should not overlap, i.e. Mastodon and Five Finger Death Punch. My friend and I saw two hot girls make out before Disturbed played.
36 crazyfist where awsome. loved how the got eveyone to mosh.
Mastadon i didnt really care for much.
Dragonforce was good.
Disturbed and Slipknot where fucking awsome. if i could go back and do it all over agian i would. just hope to see them agian soon.
i didnt get to see eveyone, but the show was fuckin sweet. Mayehem rocked Bristow and hope they will do it agian next year!!!
2nd Stage was the best! The pits were great! Liked the side to side set up... just kept rocking ( I did fall asleep during Airbourne... just didn't expect to hear a AC/DC wanna be band during this line-up of awesome bands!)
FFDP - too short... good music, but wanted more.
Dragon force.... yeah... its a keytar... or its a spitting fool... or how about the fake jack shots? They are great musicians... but what a boring performance.
Disturbed... disturbed me a lot... slow... boring... they should throw in the towel for their live performances and look to only record music.
Slipknot... great ending to the day. Good music... but they need to get hungry again. Maybe everyone is tired on main stage, but if Suicide Silence, FFDP and Walls of Jericho were there... no one would have been standing in the pit!
Overall - GREAT 2nd stage... OK Main stage gives my vote for 4 stars!
P.S. - Whomever was in the pit a wore a mouthguard.. HUGE KUDOS to you!!! Get aggressive, but walk away!
i thought it was a pretty good show. Suicide Silence, Black Tide and Slipknot kicked ass. UnderOath was good. Disturbed was ok, i thought they could have done better. Dragon Force needs to get there asses in gear, they were horrible live. 36 crazy fists and the Red Chord were better then Dragon Force, Most of the bands there were better then dragon force.
Ok, let's get the cons out of the way first:
We got there around 2pm, when they're supposed to open, and though we had a close spot in line, it still took almost a 1/2 hour to get into the pavilion.
Perhaps I should've looked for details about the festival online before arriving because when we did get in, we found out we couldn't go to our seats at the Main Stage until 5pm. Not being interested in the side stage, we sat around for a couple of hours.
The choice of beers was the biggest disappointment for me. Miller, Budweiser, and Corona (the only decent beer there IMO)??? And $12 for A BOTTLE of Corona?????? WTF? The Budweiser they had tasted like....well, use your imagination...and it cost $8. I can get better beer at the MD RennFest for half the price. Food was also expensive, but then I was expecting that.
I didn't really pay much attention to Mastodon. I kinda watched Dragonforce, they were better at getting the crowd in the pit engaged at least. But I'm not really into bands that sound like 80s hair bands, though I thought it was cool when the lead singer went out into the audience during one of their many guitar solos.
I was there to see Disturbed and I was not disappointed! Draiman's entrance was great; I loved the Hannibal Lecter-type entrance. They knew how to get the crowd involved. The sight of all those fists in the air...ah, it was effin' awesome! Of course they had to end with "Down with the Sickness". Having seen them @ Nissan for OzzFest a couple of years ago I knew it'd be worth the long day to see them again, and this time I had seats instead of being on the lawn. And yes, when David brought up the little girl on stage it was so cute. Corrupt them early and often! ;) I definitely want to see them in concert again someday. ^__^ \m/
We left after Disturbed was over; my boyfriend and I were both in need of water and food that didn't cost an arm and a leg. ;)
This show F***ing Rock
1st time I saw Slipknot and they did not dissappoint.
FFDP was f***ing awesome and I was in the pit for their set and the crowd was great.
36 Crazyfists was great especially when the death wall was created. I only saw a few other bands on the side stages...did not see Mastodon but over heard from others they sucked as did Dragonforce.
the concert kick ass.... walls of jericho, Disturbed and Slipknot were awesome... i was just dissaponted with Mastodon performance
The Red Chord- Amazing! Suicide Silence- Amazing, and they were really nice! Mastodon- Pretty effin' sweet. Disturbed- pleasantly surprised that they rocked! Slipknot- was my all time favorite!!!!!!!!!
All in all Mayhem Fest was my favorite concert ever.
Overall a kickass show. every band was amazing! Disturbed, Slipknot, all of them. I live about 110 miles from the Nissan Pavilion and it was worth every second of the incredible drive. fucking crazy. looking forward to next year. cant wait!!
