Since it was Halloween a few people were dressed up,and all the bands were no exception! Hey Monday came out dressed like The Village People, singing YMCA! lmao They were so good, they opened with Obvious, and they also did How You Love Me Now,Josey,Candles,Run Don't Walk, and Homecoming. I was bummed they didnt do Arizona (their best song,in my opinion!).
Next was Carolina Liar. These guys are really good musically but i gotta say they were pretty boring live. A girl behind me said they were boring and i didnt argue with her but i thought to myself 'but their songs are so good though!' They were all dressed in black with white masks on their faces. They opened with Last Night, and they also did Coming To Terms,California Bound,I'm Not Over,Show Me What I'm Looking For, and Something To Die For. I wanted to hear When You Are Near! Another favorite song i didnt get to hear.
Next was the band i am going to call "My Favorite Band" for quite a while,i think...We the Kings! I haven't enjoyed watching a band that much in a long time. And even From First to Last isn't this good live. We the Kings are just fucking amazing. Words cannot express it enough LOL And apparently everyone there thought so too, because from the minute i got in line i could tell some people were only there to see WTK,and when the other bands told us to make some noise for each band,WTK always got the loudest cheers! I had no idea they were THIS loved.
Ok so Danny comes out first, and he is dressed up as a loaf of Wonder Bread LOL (you gotta know how this guy is,and it makes it even funnier). Drew was a soccer player, but i could only see his white t shirt and the top of his shorts or pants,i couldn't tell cuz i couldn't see over that far. Hunter was Tom Cruise in Risky Business, right down to his skivvies!! and we know he wasnt wearing anything underneath them cuz he said so :-) Last but not least, was Travisaurus Rex!! lmao Boy the crowd got a kick out of that, huge green dinosaur suit complete with claws and a big head! You couldn't even see his face under there!
They opened with Stay Young, and they also did Secret Valentine (my favorite!! Finally i get to hear a favorite song!),Skyway Avenue,Check Yes Juliet,Whoa,All Again For You,and This Is Our Town. Then they also did Feel Good,Inc. by Gorillaz, and omg i wish i had a videocamera!!! That was so amazing, the crowd was loving it,and Hunter even sang (or rapped, rather) one of the verses,he set his guitar down and pushed his sunglasses down to the end of his nose and just rapped his beautiful sexy ass off! (sorry,i'll try to control myself here LOL)! In the middle of the sat Travis had to take his dinosaur head off cuz it was too hot,he said he was gonna pass out! He kept trying to bite Hunter's head with it!
So then they were done, and i was sad. Already looking forward to when they come back! I had to text my friends and tell them how WTK is now my new favorite band LOL (That's also because last night i discovered all their old stuff which i didnt know existed and they were SOOOOO awesome back then too, much harder,so i liked that!) Anyway,i texted everyone for a bit to kill time in between, and finally TAI was ready to come on.
Some dude dressed as the devil started singing some Halloweeny song and it was like a play on stage,he was about to get killed by these creepy dudes and then suddenly Captain America appears to save the day! It was Sisky from The Academy Is! The crowd was going pretty nuts! Then the devil guy introduced all the guys as they came out with their costumes on,Michael Guy Chislett was The Joker (total Heath Ledger style!) God he looked so creepy, and hot at the same time LOL I really got the good side of the stage cuz i could stare at Michael, and of course Hunter was on my side, and Hey Monday had a very hot guitarist on my side too! Anyway ok then next was Mike Carden who was a clown, and The Butcher (i think his real name is Andy) was some roman emperor guy. Then William was last and the guy announces "we have to say his name 3 times to get him to appear, say it with me everyone,BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE!" And there was William Beckett totally rocking the Beetlejuice thing,to a T! He looked soooo cool! The crowd was freaking out.
They opened with Summer Hair=Forever Young. They also did Slow Down, the Phrase That Pays,Classifieds,Checkmarks,About A Girl,His Girl Friday,Rumored Nights,Automatic Eyes,After The Last Midtown Show,We've Got a Big Big Mess On Our Hands, and Everything We Had. They had to stop during His Girl Friday because a girl passed out and they laid her up on the stage and everyone was trying to get her to wake up,and the band wouldn't start until she was ok! This happened about 5 or 6 more times but they didn't stop for any of those. William said to the crowd that we have to pick each other up when we fall and make sure we all look out for each other, how cool of him!
After it was over i went to the bathroom and then went to the merch table,i bought a WTK hoodie that says "We the Kings Owns Your Face" LOL Love it. Then i was trying to buy the tour shirt with all the bands on it but it was sold out by the time i got up there! I was so bummed!
This show was amazing! All the bands had costumes! I have to admit, that The Academy Is... had the coolest costumes! The Joker, Beetlejuice, a Clown, and a Roman Emperor maybe Greek? But it was amazing! I was so excited! It was so much better than I could have imagined! I bought the CD but hadn't had much time to listen to it, so this was even better! I couldn't have found a better way to spend my Halloween! They played Summer Hair=Forever Young, Slow Down, Phrase That Pays, Classifieds, Checkmarks, His Girl Friday, Automatic Eyes, About a Girl, Rumored Nights, After the Last Midtown Show, Everything We Had, and We've Got A Big Mess On Our Hands! It was amazing! If you weren't there, you missed out on one of the best shows ever!!!
I've seen these guys 9 times and this was by far the best performance and most fun I've had. Excellent show.
